Doa Memohon Perlindungan dari Kesulitan (Doa Nabi Yunos a.s)

My Clinic Appointment

Had an appointment for blood sample today in Sengkurong Clinic... Whooosp.... what a queue... I arrived at the clinic at around 0728H, the door is already wide open (hehehehe.... not a common sight... normally they open it at around 0745H.

I reckoned my turn is somewhere around 25th or 27th by counting the numbers of people waiting in their seats and the pile of appointment cards in the appointment bin... I think all will be over by 0900 or so... As usual the first call was as expected at 0800H.

Seem some improvement goes to the queue calling system today.... they had put up a big PEVY karaoke speaker to anounced the name! Well done guys.....

Ah my turn was on at around 0900... I was right. At last it is going to be over.... and it did...alas!

On the way back to the car I drop by at the pharmacy, to asked whether I can get the medication which was short of supply earlier this month..... well.... they still do not get stock yet.... no choice... have to try again in 2 weeks time.... I think this is common sight now experienced by most patients... The Government Pharmacy had run their prescreption stock. What a shame...... I remember, I had to purchase the prescription from a small pharmacy in Limbang earlier this month..

Aiiiiiyah..... I feel a bit dizzy loh..... dunno why ah.... maybe kurang darah kot.... had to go home... take my breakfast and rest lah before going to work... what to do......

Old Brunei Coins

It's Monday again. But everyone seem to be still in Hari Raya moods. I can't get appointment with peoples that I am suppose to see in the Govenment Department as they are still busy attending the "Open House".

With this idle schedule, I think I will share some of the images of old Brunei Coins that had been circulated before. I do not have much info though, and would love to have some from those people who knows about it.

This is the "Duit Bintang" which probabley got it name from the star emblem on the coin. The coin was believed to be used in Brunei in 1304 AD to 1600 AD.

The next one is the "Duit Pitis", believed to be introduced earlier than the above coins. I can see that the year on the coin is 1285 AD.

Beside the above coins, it is believed, that the Chinese "Duit Kue" was also used in Brunei, especially with the trade with Chinese Merchants.

It's really interesting to see how coins and currency notes had evolved through times. I recalled the old days when my late grandmother used to keep the Japanese "Duit Pisang" which become worthless then. As a Kampong Boy, I do not understand significant of those notes at that time. It had become our plaything and at the end, had destroy some part of the historical fact in our family history. What a sad thing to do........

Doa Memohon Perlindungan daripada Banyak Hutang

Hari ini hari Jumaat, so aku nak share satu doa yang di ajarkan oleh Rasulullah S.A.W kepada Abu Umamah.

Rasulullah S.A.W berasa hiba mendengar rintihan Abu Umamah yg hidup dalam kemiskinan dan banyak hutang, lalu berkata "Mahukah kamu kuberikan beberapa kalimat dan mulakan dengan baik kepada setiap hari, nescaya Allah akan melenyapkan kegelisahan dan memberi kelonggaran kepadamu" Kemudian Rasulullah S.A.W membaca kalimat doa ini dan diamalkan oleh Abu Umamah.

Brunei Stamps from the past

I think I will put up some more of the stamps. I had 2 more sets in my PC. This time seem to be in colour rather than the old B&W ones.

These stamps are circulated during the era of Brunei's 27th Sultan, Almahrum Sultan Ahmad Tajuddin, the elder brother of Almahrum Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddin III (the 28th sultan and the late father of the current sultan). I did not have any other details on these stamps, more than that.

Somebody out there maybe able to provide some info.

The Next stamp is the 1949 Universal Postal Union for Brunei. I wasn't born when it was circulated and I had no other info for this set.

I will try to dig up some more from my old "kaban" for some old stamps and first day covers which I might had kept during my students (apprentice) days in the UK.

The Discovery of Historical Images....

Nothing much to do today. All things seem to be moving slowly for business with this Hari Raya feastive moods still in-tack with most of the people I am dealing with.

So a couple of meetings had to be postponed this morning. Well..... that's life. Sometimes thing are beyond your control personally.... you rely and depend on others to be able to execute your job effeciently.

Whilst doing some rearrangment of my Notebook folders this morning I found some graphics of Brunei valuable historical images, which I thinks may be worthwhile to share. Let's talk history

This is the 1895 stamp used for taxation purposes in Begara Brunei Darussalam. It shows some Chinese influence in it, through the chinese characters shown on the lower right hand coner of the stamps. I think it a translation of the word " Two Cents", which is also written in jawi "dua sen" on the lower left hand side. (My Chinese friend just told me - it is "Liang Fen" meaning two cents) So I was correct then

I am interested to get more information on the extend of usage and other historical information on this stamp. Maybe someone out there will be able to assist me.

The Next stamp is dated 1907. I suppose this stamps was used more on taxation (especially that with a face value of $25. I recalled my late father told me that $25 in 1907, (as told by my late grandfather to him - My late father was born in 1926!); is something that is having the same value as we have $1,000 now. Mind you the gaji at that time is only $10 - $75 a month!

This Next Stamp is the 1924 issue decipiting Kampong Air. I still remember handling this stamp at he age of 9 years old before I left to stay in the hostel. It was from a document... maybe some sort of declaration writ, shown by my late grandmother to me. I think it is on her "surat sumpah" lah.

Well, that 3 images does have a lot of historical facts in it. And it reminds me of my childhood and where we come from. I will try to share that with you again sometimes.

Nak Share doa dan buat amal sikit....

Masa terluang lagi... takde banyak kerja pagi ni... so aku nak share satu Doa untuk menetapkan iman... terutama sekali setelah kita berpuasa sebulan penuh dan kemudian beraya... lepas tu iman kita pasti tergugat lagi gak.... so kita share doa ni.... aku buat dengan romanised sekali (my son yang buat romanised ni....) agar mudah untuk di sebut bagi mereka yang agak lembab kat bab jawi ni (macam aku ni lah jugak....). Kalau susah sangat nak sebut.... baca je doa yang dalam bahasa Melayu tu.... Allah tu kan Maha Tahu.... so Dia mesti faham Bahasa Melayu punya.. Try lah berdoa.... sebab doa itu senjata bagi orang-orang Mukmin.

Good Morning Me....

Huh.... wake up too early this morning, I suppose....
I think my mind is still set-up to the sahur time scheduled during Ramadan.

Well.... rather than doing nothing, I switched on my notebook to put my mind into gear at some undone works... seem my mind is a bit idling.... next option to type in this blog posting.... whilst trying to figure out thing to do at work in the morning...

Titik Mula

I started this blog column today. Sahaja, nak penuhkan masa terluang.
I think it can be a good start for a new blog to commomerate a new begining after Idul Fitri.
Ye lah... kata orang.... Shawal ini adalah waktu untuk kita kembali kepada fitrah....

To say about the status quo:
I am happy and feel fulfilled this Id, I feel I had managed to complete something that I was not able to do last Raya, ..... hehehe..... maybe....... dengan puasa sebulan penuh, solat dan amal yang sering aku sembunyikan dari pengetahuan orang lain... mungkin doa yang aku panjatkan kehadrat Illahi telah dimakbulkan kot...

Moga aku akan terus merasa begini dalam mengharungi hari-hari seterusnya....
